Marriott Bonvoy & Emirates Skywards Partnership Programme Frequently Asked Questions

To the extent that terms are capitalised in these Preferred Partnership Programme (“Preferred Partnership”) FAQs, the terms have the meanings specified in the Marriott Bonvoy Programme Rules or the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules, as applicable. This includes, without limitation, the definitions of properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy, Qualifying Nights, Stays, Qualifying Rates, Qualifying Charges, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, Ambassador Elite Members in the Marriott Bonvoy Programme Rules and the definitions of Silver, Gold and Platinum status in the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules.

General

  • If you are an existing Emirates Skywards member and an active Marriott Bonvoy™ member, you can link your Emirates Skywards and Marriott Bonvoy accounts. Please note that your first and last names must match in both accounts. If you have elected to receive Emirates Skywards Miles (as opposed to Points) for hotel stays, you may not link your accounts unless you agree to opt out of receiving Miles and revert your earning preference to Points.

  • If you are an active Marriott Bonvoy Member and have an Emirates Skywards® membership account you may link your accounts to enjoy Preferred Partnership benefits through www.marriott.com/emirates. If you have elected to receive Emirates Skywards Miles (as opposed to Points) for hotel stays, you may not link your accounts unless you agree to opt out of receiving Miles and revert your earning preference to Points. Please note that although you may be able to link your accounts, benefits of the Preferred Partnership are only available to certain Elite members of the Marriott Bonvoy Programme and the Emirates Skywards Programme.   • Yes. Customer can join Emirates Skywards here and Marriott Bonvoy here.

  • Yes. If you are registered to participate in the Preferred Partnership, you may opt out or unlink your accounts at any time by visiting travel-partner.marriott.com/emirates.

  • A Marriott Bonvoy Member who is a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member and meets the eligible criteria will receive bonus Points when taking eligible Emirates flights. In addition, a Marriott Bonvoy Member who is a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member will receive the Preferred Partnership in-airport benefits when flying with Emirates.

  • If you have selected to receive Skywards Miles for eligible stays at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy, you will need to change your earning preference to Points instead of Skywards Miles. This can be done under your Marriott Bonvoy profile preferences:

    • Sign in to your Marriott Bonvoy account here.
    • Select “Profile” tab
    • Scroll down and select “Edit” within “Earning Preferences”
    • Select Points as your preferred currency

  • No. Please see the Marriott Bonvoy Programme Rules to determine how to earn Elite membership status in the Marriott Bonvoy Programme.

  • No, you will only earn Skywards Miles on stays at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy.

Earning Points & Miles

  • You can only start earning dual currency with the Preferred Partnership once you reach Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold or Platinum tier status and Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member status.

  • If your accounts are linked, and you are a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, or Ambassador Elite Member, and you book an Eligible Fare on an Eligible Flight (any Emirates flight operated and marketed with an EK code), then — in addition to the Skywards Miles you already earn — you will also earn three Points for every one U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent spent on Eligible Fares (eligible fares exclude staff tickets, reward tickets and other promotional tickets as well as taxes and fees).

  • If your accounts are linked, and you are an Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold or Platinum Member, in addition to earning Points for Stays at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy, you will earn one Skywards Mile for every one U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent spent on Qualifying Rates [e.g., room rates (excluding taxes and charges)]. No Skywards Miles will be awarded for Qualifying Charges (e.g., food-and-beverage charges, laundry, valet) during a Stay at a Marriott Bonvoy Participating Property. See the Marriott Bonvoy Programme Rules at Section 2.1.b for details on Qualifying Charges and Section 2.1.e for details on Qualifying Rates.

  • If your accounts are linked and if you are a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member, Points that you earn for Eligible Flights will be posted to your Marriott Bonvoy Member Account within four to six weeks after the Eligible Flight is completed.

  • If your accounts are linked and you are an Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold or Platinum member, Miles that you earn for an eligible stay will be posted to your Emirates Skywards membership account within four to six weeks after your stay.

    If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member, you are eligible to earn Points on Eligible Flights (any Emirates flight operated and marketed with an EK code) for Eligible Fares booked on Eligible Flights. See the Preferred Partnership Terms and Conditions for additional details.

  • No. If your accounts are linked and you are an Emirates Skywards Blue member, you will not earn Skywards Miles for stays at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy through the Preferred Partnership.

  • No. If your accounts are linked and you are not a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member, you will not be able to earn Points on Eligible Flights through the Preferred Partnership.

  • If your accounts are linked and meet the eligible criteria to earn Points and/or Skywards Miles for your eligible flight or stay, or if you are missing Skywards Miles for a stay at a property participating in Marriott Bonvoy, contact Member Support here. If you are missing Marriott Bonvoy Points for an eligible flight, please contact Emirates support here.

  • If your accounts are linked and meet the eligible criteria, you will be able to earn Points for Eligible Flights and/or Skywards Miles for stays at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy.

    You must have linked your accounts at least 48 hours prior to taking an Eligible Flight and/or 48 hours prior to checking out of a Marriott Bonvoy Participating Property for a stay.

  • No. Eligible Flights and stays at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy that occur prior to linking accounts will not be eligible to earn Skywards Miles and/or Points through the Preferred Partnership.

  • Yes. If your accounts are linked and meet the eligible criteria, you will be able to earn Points for Eligible Flights and/or Skywards Miles for stays at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy.

    You must have your linked accounts at least 48 hours prior to taking an Eligible Flight and/or 48 hours prior to checking out of the Marriott Bonvoy Participating Property for a stay regardless of when such stay was booked.

  • No. If your accounts are linked and meet the eligible criteria to earn Points, you will only earn Points for flights operated and marketed by Emirates with an EK code.

  • No. If you include a frequent flyer membership number for a loyalty program other than Emirates Skywards in your booking, you are not eligible to earn Points for that flight even if your accounts are linked for the Preferred Partnership and are an Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold or Platinum member and/or a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member.

Flight & stay benefits

  • If your accounts are linked and you are a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite Member, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite Member, you are eligible to receive Priority Check-In and Priority Boarding in connection with Eligible Flights in accordance with the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules and the Preferred Partnership Terms and Conditions.

  • If your Marriott Bonvoy and Emirates Skywards accounts are linked, and you are a Skywards Gold or Platinum member, you’ll enjoy the following benefits during your stay at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy:

    • Elite Check-In Line access, if available at the property.
    • 2:00 p.m. Late Checkout for Skywards Gold members and 4:00 p.m. for Skywards Platinum members, as per Marriott Bonvoy Program Rules.
    • Complimentary Wi-Fi, free internet connection during stay.
  • If you meet the eligibility criteria for in-airport and/or in-hotel benefits as outlined in the Preferred Partnership Terms and Conditions you receive such benefits in connection with an Eligible Flight or a stay at a Marriott Bonvoy Participating Property. Your accounts must be linked at least 48 hours prior to taking an Eligible Flight and/or 48 hours prior to checking in to the Marriott Bonvoy Participating Property for a stay.

  • No. If a Marriott Bonvoy Participating Property provides in-room Internet on a complimentary basis, no substitute benefit will be provided to Emirates Skywards Gold or Platinum member who have their accounts linked to the Preferred Partnership.

  • You can enjoy the Preferred Partnership benefits at all properties participating in the Marriott Bonvoy Programme. See Section 1.2.a of the Marriott Bonvoy Programme Rules for more information on the hotels which participate in the Marriott Bonvoy Programme.
