• What is the preferred partnership program between Marriott Bonvoy & Cathay?

  The preferred partnership program provides members of Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay the opportunity to match status and more.

  Cathay Silver, Gold and Diamond members receive:

  • Complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status (registration required here).

  Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members receive:

  • Complimentary Silver status with Cathay (registration required here). A limited number of registrations will be available.

• Why is Marriott Bonvoy partnering with Cathay?

  This partnership enhances the travel and lifestyle experiences and adds more value to Cathay Membership Program and Marriott Bonvoy members.

• What status levels are offered through the preferred partnership?

  • For Cathay Silver, Gold, and Diamond members, the preferred partnership program offers complimentary Gold Elite status with Marriott Bonvoy (registration required). The status is valid for at least 12 months. For example, if a member registers for the preferred partnership in February 2024, they will receive Elite status through the end of 2024, all of 2025, and until February 2026. Thereafter, a member will retain their complimentary Gold Elite status with no re-registration required as long as the member maintains their eligible Cathay Silver, Gold or Diamond status.
  • For Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members or above, the preferred partnership program offers complimentary Cathay Silver status with Cathay. There are a limited number of complimentary Cathay Silver status registrations available for eligible members. The status is valid for 12 months. For example, if a member registers for the preferred partnership in February 2024, they will receive Cathay Silver status until February 2025. Thereafter, a member will retain their Cathay Silver status with no re-registration required as long as the member is able to fulfill the requirement to renew Cathay Silver Status.

• Does a customer have to be a member of Cathay and Marriott Bonvoy to participate in the preferred partner program?

  Yes. Customers can join Cathay here and Marriott Bonvoy here.

• Is the preferred partner program open to all members worldwide?

  Yes. Members of Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay Membership Program, regardless of where they live, can participate in the preferred partner program if they meet the eligibility requirements for complimentary status match and register for the preferred partner program.

• How do members register for the preferred partner program?

  Cathay members who have Silver status or higher and Marriott Bonvoy members who have Platinum Elite status or higher can register here.

  1. On this page, members can sign in with their Marriott Bonvoy member number and password. Once logged into your Marriott Bonvoy account, you will be prompted to connect/log into your Cathay membership account to link the two.
  2. Members must accept the terms and conditions of the program for both Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay Membership Program for their request to be processed. Please note that the last name and first initial on the account must match.
  3. The updated status will be reflected in the member’s Cathay and Marriott Bonvoy membership accounts within 2 days.

• Do Cathay members accumulate Status Points on top of their existing Status Points earned?

  No, Cathay members’ Status Points will be reset to zero upon linking their membership with Marriott Bonvoy membership.

• Do Marriott Bonvoy members who receive Cathay Silver status through the preferred partner program have the same benefits as other Cathay Silver members?

  Yes. However, members must meet the criteria each year to be eligible for retention of their complimentary Cathay Silver status through the preferred partner program.

• Do members who receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status through the preferred partner program have the same benefits as other Gold Elite members?

  Yes. However, members must meet the criteria each year to be eligible for complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status through the preferred partner program.

• Once a Marriott Bonvoy member has complimentary Cathay Silver status, can the member reach a higher status?

  Yes. However please note that the website will accept a registration, but the status will not change. Refer to the preferred partnership program Terms & Conditions for more information.

• Can Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and above use their membership cards at the airport to enjoy the benefits of Cathay Silver?

  No. Eligible Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite and above members who wish to enjoy the benefits of Cathay Silver status must register and be confirmed through the preferred partner program here. There are a limited number of complimentary Cathay Silver status registrations available for eligible members. To enjoy Cathay Silver benefits, members must enter their Cathay membership number when booking flights with Cathay Pacific.

• Can Cathay members who are Silver or higher use their Cathay membership cards at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy to enjoy the benefits of Gold Elite status?

  No. Eligible Cathay Silver and above members who wish to enjoy the benefits of Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status must register and be confirmed through the preferred partner program here. To enjoy Gold Elite benefits, members must enter their Marriott Bonvoy number when booking stays at Marriott Bonvoy participating properties.

• What additional “points and miles” benefits are available to all members of the Cathay and Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programs, regardless of whether they are eligible for the preferred partner program, and how do these benefits work?

  • All Marriott Bonvoy members can convert their Points to Asia Miles at a ratio of 3 Marriott Bonvoy Points to 1 Asia Mile.
  • For every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points converted to Asia Miles, members receive an additional 5,000 bonus Asia Miles.
  • All Cathay members can convert Asia Miles into Marriott Bonvoy Points at a 2:1 ratio (2 Asia Miles to 1 Marriott Bonvoy Point). Registration is not required for these points and miles benefits offered by Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay, but customers must be members of Cathay and Marriott Bonvoy.

• Will there be limited time promotional offers available for the Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay preferred partnership program?

  Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay may from time to time offer limited time status acceleration offers to members of the Marriott Bonvoy and Cathay preferred partnership program.
